Frequently asked questions about the coffee subscription:

How do I subscribe to a coffee subscription?

It's very simple: Choose your coffee & select the option "Get more out of your coffee with the Welttisch coffee subscription:" on the product page.

Then you choose the appropriate quantity and the desired delivery interval.

Tip: Choose a larger quantity in a longer interval to save shipping costs!

Then go to your shopping cart as usual, click on Checkout and enter your preferred payment method. You will receive a confirmation email from us and your coffee around 3 days later.

From now on, you will receive your coffee regularly, at the intervals and in the quantities you have selected. Without having to do anything.

How often is the coffee delivered?

As often as you like! You can flexibly adjust the amount of coffee and the delivery interval to suit your needs :)

How do I know how much coffee I need?

For your calculations, assume around 100 cups per kg. For example, if you drink an average of 3 cups a day, you would need around 0.9 kilos a month. In this case, it would make sense to order 3 500 g packages every 6 weeks to save on shipping costs.

Did you calculate incorrectly? Don't worry, you'll soon get the hang of it. And luckily our subscription is 100% flexible, so just try out the amount you want.

If you notice that you still have too much coffee, you can skip a delivery and adjust the interval or delivery quantity to suit your needs.

What is the perfect delivery interval?

That depends on your consumption. It makes the most sense for you to adjust your delivery interval and quantity so that you save on shipping costs. This is the case for orders over €50. For example, if you use around 1 kg per month, we recommend that you order 1.5 kg every 6 weeks.

Did you calculate incorrectly? Don't worry, you'll quickly get the hang of it. And luckily our subscription is flexible, so just try out the perfect delivery interval for you. If you notice that you still have too much coffee, you can skip a delivery and adjust the interval or delivery quantity to suit your needs.

If you don't have enough, simply reorder in advance and shorten your interval or increase the quantity for next time!

My coffee consumption is rather irregular, is it worth it for me?

Yes! The Welttisch coffee subscription is 100% flexible. You can adjust the quantities at any time. Adjust the delivery interval.

Are you going on vacation or away for a longer period of time? No problem, just skip a delivery.

Is there a notice period or minimum contract term?

No, you can relax! The Welttisch coffee subscription can be paused or canceled at any time. There are no minimum subscription periods or other small print.

I forgot to cancel the delivery. What now?

We'll help you to prevent this from happening! We'll send you a reminder email 3 days in advance. This gives you enough time to react and possibly postpone the delivery if you don't need it yet or are going away at short notice.

Is there a discount for subscriptions?

No, better.

As a subscriber, you are one of our most valuable customers. We could make life easy for ourselves and certify this value to you with a cheap discount. But we think that leaves the whole thing with a bad aftertaste. Instead, you will regularly receive exclusive surprises and insights from us. And you have the chance to get to know the origin of your coffee personally!

I would like to give a special gift. Can I also give the coffee subscription as a gift?

That's no problem! Simply enter the contact details of the lucky person who will receive your gift in the delivery address.

You only want to give a gift for a certain period of time?

No problem, the subscription can be managed at any time and you can change the payment method whenever you want, so that the person pays for their coffee themselves after a certain period of time, because they will love it!

If, contrary to expectations, this is not the case, you can cancel the subscription at any time, don't worry :)

What are the shipping costs for the coffee subscription?

For orders over 50 €, shipping is free, otherwise standard delivery costs 4.99 €.

You want to save on shipping costs, but don't drink that much coffee?

Play around with the delivery interval! You can order larger quantities over longer periods of time. This way you can easily reach the minimum order value.

For example, instead of ordering 500 g every 2 weeks, simply order 3x500 g every 6 weeks.

Where can I change my coffee subscription?

It's simple, you have 2 options.

After the purchase you can create a customer account and use it to manage your coffee subscription.

If you don't want that, that's no problem. Every subscription email contains an access link where you can manage your subscription. There you can change everything, from delivery address to quantities or delivery intervals. You can also cancel or pause your subscription there.

Is there a minimum order value for the coffee subscription at Welttisch?

No, you can decide freely. We simply recommend that you order larger quantities and extend the delivery interval accordingly. This way you can save on shipping costs.

What you do is up to you, the coffee subscription is as flexible as you are :)

Why is it worth knowing where your coffee comes from?

The World Table Concept:

At the centre is our own small coffee plantation in the middle of Colombia's coffee zone: "Finca La Macarena". Imagine it as a portal to a new world.

On this finca, we start on a green meadow and have been building up a sustainable coffee production from scratch since 2023. The well-being of our "coffee farmers" is particularly important to us and we want to preserve and expand the beauty of our country with all its diversity. When the time comes for the first harvest, we will share this special coffee with you here.

In addition, our local commitment has resulted in some friendships: with our neighbors and interesting families of coffee farmers from our region. And our goal on this platform is to create a direct connection between these coffee plantations and you. A connection that everyone benefits from.

Our first coffee, for example, Welttisch First Edition, was created in collaboration with a coffee plantation that is an example for us in many ways when it comes to sustainable cultivation and production of high-quality coffee.

Why is this direct connection a good and even necessary thing?

In short, to give the many small, family-run coffee plantations the opportunity to get the best out of their coffee and at the same time enable them to make real progress:

Step by step towards greater sustainability and growing beyond the daily struggle for a minimum standard of living.

Now you're probably wondering: What does all this have to do with each other? We'll explain it to you:

In order to learn what is important in cultivation, we visited many coffee plantations in the region on our trip. And we saw that there are a wide variety of approaches and methods: from cultivation to harvesting to processing. Each coffee farm has its own composition of methods and strategies, adapted to the respective local circumstances.

These coffee plantations can be roughly divided into two categories:

  1. Larger plantations owned by people with financial muscle behind them
  2. Small plantations owned by the coffee farmers' families, without financial flexibility, often at subsistence level

Most of the coffee in our region comes from small, family-run plantations. We have found that, despite their hard daily work, they live from hand to mouth. They receive little appreciation for their work and the coffee they produce. And the biggest problem for these coffee farming families in Colombia is their dependence on the world market price for coffee. This price is traded on the stock exchange in another country, is influenced by global factors and cannot take into account the individual situation of each coffee plantation.

Each of these families has a different philosophy. And despite the desire to manage their farm more sustainably or to put more time and care into preparing their coffee, to pay their employees better, etc., for most of them it remains a dream.

This is due to the extreme dependence on the externally determined coffee price, which results in a daily struggle for existence. These families simply have no room to breathe and reorient themselves. Therefore, seals such as organic and fair trade are not much help to these people, as the certification is both time-consuming and costly and also does not take into account the individual situation of each coffee plantation. There is simply no room for such things when you have to worry about the basic needs of your family!

What can we achieve together?

Despite all this, there are many very good approaches and visions on these coffee plantations. For example, high-quality coffee is produced through exclusively manual production. But the effort for particularly good processing and quality must also be worthwhile. That is why we have decided to help these families on their way to a more sustainable and independent future, step by step. We do this by giving Colombia's coffee farmers a face, letting you share in their story and creating a direct connection between them and you, the coffee consumer.

Advantage for you & the coffee farmers

The advantage for you:

You get a coffee of excellent quality, produced by hand, carefully and with a lot of love. You can taste it!

In addition, you can be sure where your coffee really comes from. Because you choose which plantation and which family you want to drink the coffee from. This means you can directly decide how the coffee is grown, harvested, etc. and help
at the same time, farmers can enjoy a better, dignified and, above all, self-determined income.

Because your investment in your coffee directly supports a farm whose concept you like, instead of promoting modern colonialism. And: You are very close to the events on the farm where your coffee is produced. We let you participate in the events on the respective finca, because every month you receive a small e-book from us:

What challenges were there? How did the harvest go? Don Carlos celebrated his birthday, etc.

You will immerse yourself in the world of coffee and experience a deep connection with your coffee. Just sit back and relax and let every sip of coffee become a unique moment of pleasure for you.

The advantage for the families of coffee farmers:

Through direct trade, coffee farmers' families have the opportunity to set their own prices without being dependent on the world market price or the requirements of seals such as organic and fair trade, which do not take into account the individual circumstances and needs of small farmers in particular.

Instead, they can negotiate with us on an equal footing, like the owner of any normal business in the world. And they can take their individual situation into account. This results in prices for the coffee farmers in Colombia that are significantly higher than the world market price or Fairtrade.

The foundation is laid for the families' independence and for a time of progress in which both their coffee plantations and their personal lives blossom in new splendor. This is where the circle closes, because with every sip of coffee you enjoy, the conditions for the family at the source get a little better!

What is important when growing and harvesting coffee?

coffee cultivation:

When growing coffee, the geographical location is particularly important. Good coffee grows particularly well at high altitudes near the equator, together with other plants in an ecosystem. This is why the coffee-growing areas in Colombia, for example, are located in the Andes mountain ranges. There, the combination of fertile soil and a suitable climate with moderate heat and high rainfall is perfect.

If you are interested in the details of coffee cultivation in Colombia, please check out our blog post on the topic.

coffee harvest:

Due to the different climate zones in coffee growing regions around the world, coffee can be harvested almost all year round. Because it is always harvest time somewhere.

Traditionally, coffee is harvested by hand. Industrialization and the desire for "more, faster, cheaper" have increased productivity through the use of machines and other accelerated harvesting methods. However, this has come at the expense of quality.

It is important to our partners to produce good coffee, it is their passion. Therefore, they use the highest quality of all harvesting methods: "picking". In the truest sense of the word, "cherry picking" is practiced and only the best and really ripe cherries are harvested. This is one of the most important reasons why high-quality coffee is difficult to produce.

You can find more details about the various harvesting methods in our blog post .

Does your concept help support sustainable coffee production?

Yes, and you have a say. Because you decide which coffee you want to buy. From which farmer and from which farm. Due to the increased financial flexibility in contrast to classic trading models, the farmers also have the "luxury" of being able to pursue sustainable cultivation methods.

And since the topic of sustainable cultivation is also important to us on our own finca, we naturally make sure to only suggest coffee that we have convinced ourselves of on site and will continue to convince ourselves of in the future.

How can I convince myself of this?

We have a suggestion for you: Come and see for yourself! Experience with your own senses how a real coffee plantation works. Get to know the people who work hard every day to make your daily coffee enjoyable. If you find this exciting, take a look at our page on " Living on a real coffee farm ". There is a lot to discover from our finca "La Macarena".

Until you start your own journey, we'll help you with exclusive insights behind the scenes that not even industry insiders get: As a Welttisch customer, you'll receive a small e-book from us every month. In it, we report first-hand on current events on the farm where your coffee comes from. This way, you can get an idea of what's really happening.

Ground coffee vs. whole coffee bean: which is better?

A common question is whether coffee beans are "better" than ground coffee. While the coffee is the same, there are 2 important differences and advantages to the coffee bean:

  1. The freshness. Coffee loses its aroma extremely quickly. As long as the coffee is stored as a coffee bean, it is preserved much better. This means that, in contrast to ground coffee, a coffee bean stays fresh and aromatic for longer.
  2. Individual taste. The taste of coffee can be controlled by a number of factors during preparation. One of these factors is the degree of grinding. The degree of grinding varies greatly depending on the preparation method and individual taste. Therefore, it makes sense for you as a coffee drinker to grind your own coffee, exactly as you need it.

The coffee bean is therefore the much better choice for all those who have the opportunity to grind their own coffee. Investing in a coffee grinder is worthwhile.
